This past weekend I made a trip to the Tulsa Zoo for their evening event, Zoolightful. It runs through early June on Thursday through Sunday nights, transforming part of the zoo into a glowing, walkable loop of illuminated, paper lantern-style animals.

We arrived just before sunset and grabbed dinner at one of the zoo restaurants. By the time we finished, the light was fading, so we made our way back toward the entrance and started the loop.

The night also turned into a bit of a photography challenge. I brought a single lens — a 45mm f/1.2 — and used it the entire time, leaning into the low light and letting the scenes fall off into darkness where they wanted to.

Here are a few highlights from the night.
